Cause of Basmanny market collapse lies in poor inspection
Director of International activity department of Russian Emergency Ministry Yuri Brazhnikov has announced that the cause of Basmanny market collapse in Moscow may become insufficient supervision of building condition.
"I suppose that construction was poorly supervised for 30 years", - said representative in the Ministry.

He was detained as a suspect in case of building collapse on February 24, 2006 and Moscow court sanctioned his arrest on February 26. As Moscow prosecutor Anatoly Zubov said, the director of market realized numerous replanning of the building, which has lead to uncontrolled depreciation and dilapidation of its construction". Moreover, Office of Public Prosecutor concluded that Mark Misheev violated time regime of market operation.
The roof of Basmanny market collapsed on February 23 at about 6 a.m. By refined data, 66 people died, 33 got various injuries. Multi-purpose complex with "3-star" hotel and underground parking will be constructed on the place of collapsed market.
