Unknown general helps Holland resident
Arjan Erkel, the Holland resident who was kidnapped in Makhachkala in 2002 gave new information.
As Tiddo Hofsht, the ambassador of Holland in Russia, informed the hostage was set free after giving 1mln euros to the person who was advised by the "general of the Federal Security Service of Russia". As the ambassador said in April 2003 the colonel of the Federal Security Service told that Erkel will be released on condition of giving 1mln euros.
When Hofsht asked about guarantee "the general of the Service" called him and promised to control the whole situation. Money was found and according to "general?s" advice he called to the representative of the organization "Veterans of reconnaissance" Valentin Velichko and gave money to him. After Velichko flew to Dagestan.
As to Erkel the kidnappers were unsatisfied with the amount of money. Have taken money the kidnappers closed his eyes, put him in the car and took him somewhere. Erkel changed a lot of cars and after all he found himself in the Federal Security Service office.
In addition he informed that before kidnapping he didn?t see any shadowing because he was surrounded by the representative of the Service.
Erkel was the chief of the mission "The doctors without limits". Holland demands to give 1mln euros back.
