Swiss tourist rescued from drifting ice-floe in Kara Sea
Emergency Ministry successfully completed evacuation of Swiss tourist-extremist Tomas Willrikh from ice-floe drifting in Kara Sea.
This was reported by duty officer of Siberian regional Emergency center.
At 23:50 by Moscow time tourist was transported to Srednii island of Severnaya Zemlya archipelago. By estimate of doctor in rescue group the state of tourist`s health is satisfactory.
Starting on March 7 from Arctic cape 40-year old Willrikh attempted to ski to North Pole. But 2 days later he remained on drifting ice-floe and signaled SOS by satellite phone.
Waiting for helicopters with rescuers the tourist spent 2 days in tent on ice-floe. Rescuers couldn`t fly earlier because of poor meteorological conditions.
