Russian plant to continue making Volgas
Russia`s Gorky Automobile Plant will continue producing the Volga vehicles despite earlier claims it would end production.
Maxim Avdeyev, head of RusPromAvto, said after meeting with dealers throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East, there is enough demand to continue.
Avdeyev made the announcement while meeting with dealers in Belek, Turkey, on Saturday. The cars will undergo a redesign to look more modern and will use Daimler-Chrysler supplied parts. Avdeyev said the new strategy for the Gorky plant is "client oriented."
It will produce 50,000 Volgas in 2006, the same as 2005.
