Award Lech Walesa awarded in Gdansk representatives Euromayday
Leonid Sviridov. Award Lech Walesa was awarded the first day of the week in Gdansk representatives of the Ukrainian Euromayday, informs the Polish press Agency.
The crisis of political power took place in Ukraine at the end of November 2013, when the Ministry announced a temporary halt to the European integration of the country. The main Kiev Independence square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti) was occupied by supporters of European integration November 21, 2013. Later Maidan became the epicenter of conflict between the security forces and radicals. The clashes, in which opposing political force many times used small arms and Molotov cocktails, were dozens of casualties.
" We must be in solidarity with Ukraine. We observed that most Nations have expressed solidarity (Kiev), but this solidarity unorganized. We need to organize ourselves, because in the world (Ukraine) we must fight, " said the ex-President of Poland, Nobel peace prize laureate Lech Walesa, presenting the award.
The prize was handed to the representatives of " Euromayday " for " sequential actions of citizens of Ukraine, who, despite the risk, expressed his Pro-European and Pro-democratic dream ".
the delegation authorized " Euromayday "who attended the event award, became the singer Ruslana, the culture Minister Yevgeny Nisoc, Advisor to the President Olga Bogomolets, journalist and civic activist Tetyana Chornovil, sports Minister Dmitry Bulatov, former commandant of the Maidan and former NSDC Secretary Andriy Parubiy, the leader of " Svoboda " Oleg Tyagnibok.
The financial part of the award is 100 thousand US dollars, which are intended to support the activities of " Euromayday ". Award Lech Walesa is given each year since 2008.
in may of this year Prize to Lech Walesa was awarded the ex-head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev, which after joining the Peninsula to Russia, was denied entrance to the Crimea for a period of 5 years. According to the acting head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov, the ban was caused by the actions of the Jemilev aimed at inciting ethnic hatred. In September last year the prize was awarded to Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who served in the Russian Federation punishment on charges of stealing 200 million tons of oil and money laundering.
