The world's largest cave found in China
The largest cave chamber Miao, hidden under the earth, which is accessible only on the underground river, found an international expedition. This became possible thanks to the research frontiers of laser technology.
Upon application of the control of the English group of the expedition of Richard Walters, the volume of the largest cave is 10.78 million cubic meters. These data were paraded on National caving conference, held in the city Lika, England. The expedition took part, in addition to English, Chinese professionals of the University of karst Geology in Gullane.
Cave Miao bypassed by volume of the grotto of Sarawak in Malaysia, which last year was voted the greatest cave. Fresh record surpassed the previous favorite by 10%. But the Malaysian cave as before holds the leadership in the space, it is 155 thousand square meters of underground space.
Cave Miao, is part of a huge cave system Gabija (Gebihe), situated under the state Park Czyni the Gat he Cuando (Ziyun Getu He Chuandong). For the first time about Miao mentioned Chinese-European geological expedition in 1989. But precise data on the volume of the caves were able to provide after the laser scans in 2013.
To overestimate the size of the underground of the building and to obtain more precise results, the researchers needed to process the data with the participation of specialists from the Institute of Lancaster. In parallel, the expedition has provided fresh data laser scanning 2 other large cave chambers in southern China: Titan (Titan Chamber) and Hun Rose (Hong Meigui).
