Russia will be able to Shine through satellites
Tomsk scientists gathered 1st in the world of imaging-based high-energy radiation sources. With this fixture Russia can Shine overseas satellites in space.
As reported by the Manager of the laboratory N 42 Institute for nondestructive testing of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) Maxim Rychkov, using a unique imaging can be acquired layered image the internal structure of the satellites and other large objects.
"We picked up microtomograph complex for imaging large objects on the basis of high-energy radiation source, betatron. On it you can view products of up to 1.5 m. It can illuminate up to 300 mm steel and to demonstrate the internal structure of the object with a resolution of 0.1 mm" - quoted Rychkova TASS.
As explained scientist, microtomograph is intended, first, for the examination of objects used in extreme conditions - in the Far North and in the Arctic, deep under water, in space. You can view satellite Assembly. At the moment many firms for compliance of the manufactured products used by destructive and nondestructive testing of their components. The scanner allows you to examine products, not touching them," explained the scientist.
Microtomograph installed in the Institute of non-destructive control, TPU, with its support already conducted the inspection of large objects. Analogues collected installations worldwide yet: TPU is the only University, which publishes a range of betatron designed for different tasks and giving different power x-ray radiation.
