Council of Europe Secretary General: the emergence of a new " cold war " may
The emergence of a new " cold war " is possible, But to defend this will help the Ukrainian settlement of the fall, says the Secretary General of the Council of Europe thorbj?rn Jagland.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine the situation on the world political scene escalated. So, first Minister of foreign Affairs of Belarus expressed the view that the conflict in Ukraine has led the world to the brink of a new cold war ". NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the Alliance is absolutely unwilling " cold war " with Russia. However, the head of the NATO foreign Ministers ceased practical civil and military cooperation with Russia because of Russia's positions in Ukraine and the Crimea.
" I don't think we currently have the " cold war ", the same that was before 1989. But we can get " cold war ", and for this reason, at present, we must exert all efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, " Jagland said in an interview to the radio station " Echo of Moscow ".
