Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill opened on Thursday a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow Danilov monastery, said Last news in the Patriarchal press service.

Announcing the agenda, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church said that the members of the Synod is expected to take several legal documents after they are discussing, to elect several candidates for the office of Bishop and form fresh diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
the meeting of the Synod of the ROC traditionally takes place in a closed format, agenda in advance is not disclosed. As expected, the governing body of the Russian Orthodox Church will fail, and among them, the results of the outgoing year.
Meetings of the Synod are often held in the Russian capital, several times a year they are equally in St. Petersburg. Previous Synod gathered on October 23, in the Patriarchal spiritual and administrative and cultural centre of the ROC in the South of Russia (near Gelendzhik).
According to the Charter of the ROC, the highest authorities of the Church's power and control are the local Council, the Council of bishops and the Holy Synod. The Synod operates between Church Episcopal cathedrals (which is usually time for many years). Permanent members of the Synod are the 7 bishops in the Department: the metropolitans of Kiev and all Ukraine, St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Krutitskii and Kolomna, Minsk and Slutsk, Chisinau and all Moldova, Astana and Kazakhstan (the head of the Metropolitan district in Kazakhstan), Tashkent and Uzbekistan (the head of the Central Asian Metropolitan district). Two hierarchs are Permanent members of the Synod for the following positions: managing the Affairs of the Patriarchate Metropolitan and head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
To participate in the autumn-winter session (September-February) invited Metropolitan Kamyanets-Podilsky and Gorodok Theodore, Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium, Bishop of Edinet and Briceni Nicodemus, Bishop of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka Artemy and Bishop of Vologda and Veliky Ustyug Ignatius.
