Minister of foreign Affairs of Austria: the cold war should remain in the history books
Relations between the EU and Russia reached a low point, writes in the publication for the Austrian foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz. In his vision, warnings about the likelihood of a new cold war threatened to become a reality.
"the desire to revive the Ghost of the cold war seems absurd," he writes.- We cannot succumb to this reflex. The cold war should stay where its place is in the history books ". One of the gravest crises of the last decades has no simple solution, however, block-based thinking is not conducive to rectify the situation, convinced Sebastian Kurz.
according to the comments of the Minister, to overcome the fall of the EU should focus on 3 areas. First, he writes, the EU is obliged to assist the prosperity of Ukraine, but the country itself should work on reforms. Secondly, emphasizes Kurz, remember that security in the EU is possible only in cooperation with Russia, and not in opposition to it ".
Thirdly, writes Sebastian Kurz, a dialogue is needed between the Russian Federation and the Eurasian economic Union: " the Long-term goal is able to be the development of a single free trade area from Lisbon to Vladivostok. This is a very long way, and it requires that all parties were in the truth expressed interest in a constructive results."
