Biography DAVYDOV Stepan
(1777 - 1825). Being a chorister of the Imperial court chapel, attracted the attention of the Empress Catherine II, who requested Sarti do further his musical education. From the spiritual and musical works of Davydov printed full four-liturgy, and 13 concerts, including 3 for two choirs. These works are different sonority and outer beauty, the frequent use of solo singing in Italian style. Disadvantage is the small independent voice: voices often move within a given chord, forming a simple harmonic figuration. How expressive content, and from the artistic and spiritual inspiration songs Davydova much inferior to the works of his contemporaries, Berezovsky and Bortniansky. In the field of secular music Davydov wrote the opera "Rusalka" (with Kauer and Kavos, 1803), choruses of the tragedy "and Amboar Aurungzeb" (1814), concert overture, etc.. He also served as music director of the Imperial Theaters in Moscow.
