Biography MATVEEV Fyodor Mikhailovich
(1758 - 1826), the son of a soldier of the Life Guards regiment Izmailovsky. He was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1764 to 1778, Mr.. and, having finished the course with a small gold medal, during the year remained at the Academy, as its pensioner. In 1779, Mr.. received a gold medal and sent abroad. Visited Germany and Switzerland, has lived and worked in Italy, in Rome enjoyed the leadership of F. Hackert. At the end of trips twice went for a long time back to Italy, where, therefore, been spent most of his life. He died in Rome. Pictures Matveeva once enjoyed the respect not only in Russia but also in Italy. Of these, one can point to a number of landscapes (mainly types of neighborhoods of Rome, Rome and Tuscany, Campania) in the museum of Alexander III and the Academy of Arts and the Sicilian species, Moscow Rumyantsev Museum.
