Biography BRIMNER William (Brymner William)
(1855-1925) Born in Greenock, Scotland on Dec. 14, 1855, in 1857 his family moved to Canada. In 1878, Brimner entered the Academy Julian in Paris, where he studied for five years in the classroom Adolphe William Bouguereau and Robert-Fleury Joseph. In 1886-1921 was director of the classes with the program of increased complexity at the Art Institute in Montreal. In 1886 was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, in 1907 became its vice-president, and in 1909-1917 - President. National Gallery of Ottawa are his pictures: Dolly, a shoemaker, Early Moonrise in September, evening, fog over the coast, naked and Wreath. Creativity of the artist had a great influence on Canadian art. Died Brimner in Wallasey (England) 18 June 1925.
