Vaughan Williams, Ralph (Vaughan Williams Ralph)

(1872-1958)
Born in the village of Daun-Ampni (Gloucestershire) 12 October 1872. He received his musical education at Trinity College at Cambridge University (Bachelor of Music - in 1894, doctors - in 1901) and at London's Royal College of Music, took lessons from M. Bruch in Berlin and Maurice Ravel in Paris. After the First World War, Vaughan-Williams taught composition at the Royal College of Music, and continued this work until 1940. In 1935 he received the Order of Merit, while avoiding the official awards, preferring to maintain his characteristic independence of thought and expression. In addition to teaching, leadership choruses (mostly amateur) and participation in the jury of music festivals, Vaughan Williams dedicated all his time to composition and to the end of different creative activity. Vaughan Williams died in London on August 26, 1958.
