KUAZEVOKS Antoine

(1640-1720), also Kuazvo
Born in Lyon on Sept. 29, 1640. He studied at the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris, and from 1702 to 1705 was its director. In 1657 began working in the studio Lerambera in Paris, and by 1660 became the court sculptor of Louis XIV.
Kuazevoks created portraits of courtiers, the tombstones (in t.ch. Mazarin and Colbert), as well as park sculpture and reliefs in the royal residences of Versailles and Marly. Among the most famous of his works - horse sculptures of Glory and Mercury (1701-1702, Paris, Louvre), decorating the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
