Biography LATOUR Maurice Quentin de (La Tour Maurice Quentin de)
(1704-1788) Born September 5, 1704 in Saint-Quentin (Aisne). As a young Latour came to Paris, where he studied painting with Claude Dyupusha. Pleasant manner of execution chamber pastel portraits, credible resemblance, soon made the artist's popular. He posed for Voltaire, Rousseau, D'Alembert, King Louis XV, Mme Pompadour, artists, actresses, public figures of the Enlightenment. In 1746 he became a member of the Royal Academy, and from 1750 - 'painter of the King'. Latour died in Saint-Quentin 17 February 1788.
