Biography RAMOS Fidel (Ramos Fidel)
(p. 1928) Born March 18, 1928 in Lingayene (province of Pangasinan). His father, Narciso Ramos, was a member of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 1946, Ramos received a government scholarship to study in the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1950 he graduated from the Academy, received a Master of Engineering Sciences at the University of Illinois. In 1952 was in Korea as part of the Philippine Expeditionary Force, from 1966 to 1968 was chief of staff of the Philippine team for the work among the civilian population in Vietnam. As chief of police forces provide the state of emergency declared by President Marcos in 1972. When in 1986, Marcos attempted to falsify the elections, the military amounted to a conspiracy headed by Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile. Enrile and Ramos were able to unite his supporters and expressed support for Corazon Aquino. After the fall of Marcos Ramos was appointed chief of staff, and in January 1988 the Minister of Defense.
