Biography RUSHDIE, Ahmed Salman (Rushdie Ahmed Salman)
(p. 1947)
February 14, 1989 Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini sentenced Rushdie to death, issuing a fatwa, condemning the novel The Satanic Verses (1988) for blasphemy and apostasy. Muslims around the world have been promised a great reward for bringing this sentence. Since then, Rushdie often change their place of residence, it always policed.
Rushdie was born June 19, 1947 in Mumbai in the prosperous Muslim family, less than two months before India gained independence from Britain. Received English-speaking education - first at home, then in England, Rugby and Cambridge University. With 14 years he lived, studied and worked in England, from time to time naezzhaya in India and Pakistan (where his family moved). Rushdie took British citizenship, and instead of Urdu (spoken at home) and his first language was English.

Rushdie's first novel, Grimus (Grimus, 1975), little was seen. Second novel, Midnight Children (Midnight's Children, 1981), won the James Tait Black's memory, the literary prize of the Union of English-speaking and the Booker Prize. The next novel, a small book Shame (Shame, 1983), ridicules the political life in Pakistan. Change of magnitude when the character is impersonating someone else, is repeated as the reception in a satirical novel The Satanic Verses (The Satanic Verses). Main target of his satire - the British treatment of ethnic minorities. In some chapters explains the visions of the actor Jibril dreaming of him when he performs the role of the Archangel Gabriel. He was present at the birth of Islam and gives answers to the questioning of Allah Muhammad, and these responses, accumulating, would amount to the Quran. For Rushdie, the perception of the divine message is subject to distortions due to deficiency of the human (in other words, we hear what they wanted to hear), and this line of thought would offend any fundamentalist

. Among other works of Rushdie: grin Jaguar: A Journey in Nicaragua (The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey, . 1980); book for children of Haroun and the Sea Stories (Haroun and the Sea of Stories, . 1990); dreaming homelands: Articles, . essay, . criticism (Imaginary Homelands: Essays and Criticism, . 1991).,
