Biography George Otto Trevelyan (Trevelyan George Otto)
(1838-1928) Born Rotli-Temple (Leicestershire) 20 July 1838. He was educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge University. In 1862 he went to India as secretary to his father, Sir Charles Trevelyan, while a member of the council of Calcutta, responsible for financial matters. In 1865 he was elected to the House of Commons, whose member was also in 1868-1897. In 1868-1870 was the lord of the Admiralty, in 1880-1882 the Minister of the Navy Department, in 1882-1884, Minister of Ireland, in 1886 and 1892 - Minister of State for Scotland. In 1911 he was awarded the Order of Merit. The first significant historical work Trevelyan - Life and Letters of Lord Macaulay (The Life and Letters of Lord Macaulay, . 1876), . biography of his uncle, among other books - the first years of Charles James Fox (The Early History of Charles James Fox, . 1880), .
