Biography FREY, Christopher (Fry Christopher)
(p. 1907) Born December 18, 1907 in Bristol. Attended school 'Bedford Modern', playing in repertory theater troupe in Bata, editor of the magazine, wrote children's radio plays, and in 1939 became director of the theater 'Oxford pleyhaus'. Since the beginning of World War II, Fry devoted himself entirely to drama. His plays, written juicy expressive verse, had great stage success. From the religious dramas Fry's most famous boy with a cart (The Boy With a Cart, 1939), Firstborn (The Firstborn, 1946), Thor and the angels (Thor, With Angels, 1948) and Dream of the prisoners (A Sleep of Prisoners, 1950). Other pieces Fry: Phoenix rises too often (A Phoenix Too Frequent, . 1946), . It should not be burned (The Lady's Not for Burning, . 1948), . In the darkness sufficient light (The Dark Is Light Enough, . 1954), . A short coat (Curtmantle, . 1961) and the Yard of the sun (A Yard of Sun, . 1970), . Fry also made transcriptions of drum Jean Anuya ring around the moon (Ring Round the Moon, 1950), Skylark (The Lark, 1956) and plays by Jean Giraudoux, in t.ch. Tiger at the gate (Tiger at the Gates, 1953) and Duel of angels (Duel of Angels, 1960). By film scripts Barabbas (Barabbas, 1961) and the Bible (The Bible, 1966). In 1973, wrote four plays for television under the name of Bronte Houorta (Brontes of Haworth). In 1962 Fry was awarded the Queen's Medal for achievements in the field of poetry.
