Hockney was born July 9, 1937 in Bradford (Yorkshire), was educated at Bradford College of Art and the Royal College of Art (1959-1960). Exhibitions of his works, held in the United States (1964 and 1965), London (1970) and other European countries (1970 and 1974), Hockney created a reputation as the most popular contemporary British artist. Many of his works Hockney created as a sign of reverence for the masters of the past. Example, . the composition artist and model (1974) himself naked Hockney sits in front of Picasso as a model, . tensely watching the masters, in considering the arrangement pattern on the screen (1977) depicts a museum curator and art critic Henry Geldtsaler, . studying the reproduction of four pictures on the screen, .
