Work on phonology, dialectology, the history of Russian. language, Slavonic studies, general linguistics, Finno-Ugric languages, African Studies, Structural and Applied Linguistics. One of the leading Russian linguist with a unique encyclopedic range of scientific interests. In 1930-1931,. taught as i.o. Associate Professor in the Smolensk Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language Department, where he had two courses: "Introduction to Linguistics" and "Modern Russian.
