Biography AMBROZIASTR (Ambrosiaster)
Ambroziastr, Ambrosiaster, IV in. n. e., Latin Christian writer. Epithet Ambroziastr leading descended from Erasmus of Rotterdam, stand today, and unknown to us on behalf of the author of commentaries to the Bible IV. n. e. and his own writings. A. was with the pope Damas (366-384 gg.) and worked for the benefit of the Roman Church. Written comments to 13 letters of Paul (Commentarius in XIII epistulas Paulinas), assigned at the time of Erasmus St. Ambrosio; Issues Old and New Testaments (Quaestiones Veteris et Novi Testament), were considered to XX in. the writings of St.. Augustine, Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (Commenterius in Matthaeum; fr.), On three measures (De tribus mensuris; fr.), O Petre (De Petro; fr.). The above compositions were the first in the West, classical commentaries of the Holy Scriptures, created in the style of Antioch School (historical-literary method), not without the influence of the Alexandrian School. From a philological point of view is a valuable source for the study of Latin.
