Artemidorus (Artemidoros)

Artemidorus, Artemidoros, from Dald in Lydia, con. II in. n. e., Greek writer. He lived in Ephesus. It was probably the Stoics, that led him to believe in prophetic dreams properties. By surviving works of Dream Interpretation (Oneirokritika) in 5 books, based on the rich earlier literature (the so-called oneyrokriticheskoy, that is, explaining the dreams), in our time lost. Last, the fifth book contained descriptions of dreams that are fulfilled. Dream book was written in simple language on the Attic dialect, it is of interest to study the ancient folklore. Not have survived but the other two works of AA on guesswork on the hand and the flight of birds.
