By ravtsov Algirdas Tihonovich Major - Commander of the 15-th separate motorized pontoon-bridge Battalion (6-I-pontoon bridge brigade, the 3rd Guards, Panzer Army, 1 st Ukrainian Front). Born July 6, 1912 in the village Zabolote now Buda-Gomel region in a peasant family. Belorus. Member of the CPSU since 1941. He studied at the Leningrad Veterinary Institute. In the Soviet Army in 1936 in the Leningrad military engineering school, where he graduated in 1938. Member of the Great Patriotic War from 1941. From 1942 on the South-West, Stalingrad, the Don, Voronezh and the 1 st Ukrainian front.
. He was awarded medals: 2-name of Lenin in 2 of the Red Banner, Kutuzov III degree in 2 World War I and one of degree - II degree in 2 of the Red Star, the medal "For Service in Battle"
. At home in Rostov-na-Donu, where he lived hero, a memorial plaque.
