Biography ECDF (Ephoros)
Ephor; Ephoros, from Kimy in Asia Minor, ca. 405 - OK. 330 years. BC. e., the Greek historian. According to tradition, a disciple of Isocrates. The first of the Greek historians have described the entire Greek history in a product with the same title in 29 books (Fr.). XXX Prince. finished son E. Demofil. Bypassing the mythical times, E. began his story with the so-called coup Heraclides (Doric invasion in XI. BC. e.) and brought him up to 341 g. BC. e. Contents of the work was mostly very sensible. The new division was also in his book, equipped with the entry, so that each of them is a whole. Not always sufficiently critical, and little versed in military affairs, E. was, along with Xenophon, the most important historian of IV.. Polybius defended him against attacks Timaeus, his work was used Diodorus Siculus, Strabo, Polyaenus, Pompeius Trogus, Plutarch, Nikolai Damascus. E. also wrote the history of native Kimy, a treatise on the style and composition of the invention in 2 books.
