JERUSALEM Cyril (Kyrillos)

Cyril of Jerusalem; Kyrillos, Latin. Cyrillus Hierosolymitanus, OK. 313-386 years. n. e., Greek Christian writer. Originally a monk in the vicinity of Caesarea in Palestine, in 348 g. He was elected bishop, he received the rank of hands arianina ACAT, the Metropolitan of Caesarea, for which he was, by some accounts, accused Socrates of Constantinople and Sozomen. Several times he was dismissed from the post during the persecution of the Arians (in 357, 360, 362 and 367 gg.) For some time he spent in exile. In 381 g. participated in the Council of Constantinople. Glory preacher was brought to him 24 katehizy (Katecheseis). K. read about them publicly. 347 or 350 years. The first 19 katehiz bear the imprint speaking, the rest apparently were published after the death of K. Katehizy these were intended for those preparing to be baptized. The first of these is the nature of the entry, the following five issues related to treatment, further explains the basics of faith. Five recent katehiz we call mystical because they are intended for already baptized and explain the meaning of the Christian sacraments (however, their authorship is disputed). Katehizy K. allow to trace the history of the last stage of the reading of the ancient Church. They are among the most valuable literary monuments of this trend.
