Biography DOPPLER Christian
Christian Doppler (Doppler) was born November 29, 1803 in Salzburg. In 1825 he graduated from the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna, . from 1835 to 1847 he worked in Prague, . since 1847 - Professor of Mining and Forestry academies in Chemnitz, . since 1848 - member of the Vienna Academy of Sciences, . since 1850 professor at Vienna University and Director of the world's first Physics Institute, . created at the University of Vienna on his initiative.,

. Christian Doppler Research interests lie in the fields of physics such as optics and acoustics
. The main works performed on the aberration of light, the theory of the microscope and the optical rangefinder, color theory and some other topics. In 1842 Doppler theoretical basis for the dependence of the oscillation frequency, perceived by an observer, the speed and direction of the source of the waves and the observer relative to each other. This phenomenon was later named after him (the Doppler effect). The main reason for the Doppler effect - change in the number of waves falling on the propagation path between the source and receiver.

When you save the wavelengths emitted by the source, this leads to a change in the number of waves reaching the receiver every second, ie. taken to change the frequency of oscillations.
In 1848, the Doppler effect was clarified by the French physicist Armand Fizeau, in 1990 - and experimentally verified a. A. Belopol'skii in a laboratory setting. The principle of the Doppler received numerous applications in astronomy to measure the velocities of stars along the line of sight and their rotation around the axis, . turbulent flows in the solar photosphere, etc., . and then in various fields of physics and technology (up to radar, . used by traffic police),
.

Christian Doppler Died March 17, 1853 in Venice.
