Biography Innocent
St. Innocent (Popov, Benjamin), Metropolitan of Moscow - was born on 26.8.1797, Mr.. in with. Anginskom Irkutsk province in the family sexton Eusebius Popova. Orphaned at an early age and taught himself to read and write, he had seven years of reading the Apostle of the Liturgy. Was adopted at government expense in the Irkutsk theological seminars-tory, the rector of which, finding in him mental and physical resemblance with Bishop Benjamin (Bagryanskaya), the former in the years 1789-1814. Bishop of Irkutsk and Nerchinsk, gave him a new name - Benjamin. In 1817, Mr.. Bishop Michael of Irkutsk (Burdukov) received an order from the Holy Synod to send a priest in the colony of Russo-American campaign on the island of Unalaska. They became the future saint-tor. He preached among the local Aleuts and Creoles word of God, taught them carpentry, carpenter, mechanic-Term and blacksmith business, built with the help of their church.
