Biography Bourn Max (Born)
Born, Max (Born), (1882-1970), eminent German physicist, Nobel Prize. Born December 12, 1882 in Breslau. After receiving his doctorate, he lectured in Berlin (1915), Frankfurt (1919) and GцІttingen (1921) universities. With the advent of the Nazis to power Born, being a Jew, in 1933, was dismissed from the University of Gottingen, and was forced to move to England, where he was engaged in research and teaching in Cambridge. From 1936 to 1954 he was a professor at Edinburgh University, where he lectured on the developed his closest friend, Albert Einstein's theory of relativity. Being engaged in theoretical physics, Max Born made an enormous contribution to many scientific discoveries, and especially in the mathematical description of the foundations of matter. In 1954, for outstanding scientific achievements he was awarded the Nobel Prize. After the 2-nd World War, a few years before his death, he returned to Germany. Born and died Jan. 5, 1970 in Bad Pyrmont.
