Biography VASILIEV Sergey
Vasiliev, Sergei Dmitrievich (1900-1959), Russian film director and screenwriter. People's Artist of the USSR (1948). Born November 4, 1900 in Moscow at the head of the military family archive. Studied in the Kerch gymnasium (1908), continued his studies at the St. Petersburg school of Peter the Great (from 1910). In 1915 he volunteered in the army, in 1917 joined the Red Guards (1917) and actively participated in revolutionary events in Petrograd. During the Civil War, commanded a squadron, a headquarters staff Internal Defense of Petrograd, he served in the Odessa gubvoenkomate (1918-1920). In 1921-1924 he studied at the Institute of Screen Art, after which worked as an editor and later editor-an editor of the Moscow department of the Leningrad Film Studio 'Sevzapkino' (1924-1928).
Together with G. Vasilyev (namesake) was engaged in re-editing of foreign and domestic films. Joint experience was summed up in a training film "The ABC of assembly" (1926) and in the book of S. Vasiliev "Mounting films" (1929). Subsequently Vasiliev lectured on installation of the director's course at the Leningrad Film Studios (1930). I tried force and as a scriptwriter, but the scenario "Duty" (exactly seven ", 1929) and" The Last Knight of Faith of the Cold "(ca. 1930) remained unused. During the Great Patriotic War was the artistic director of the Central Joint Studios (TSOKS) in Alma-Ata (1943-1944), . where evacuees have worked with various studios filmmakers, . then the artistic director (1944-1946) and director of the studios 'Lenfilm' (1955-1957), .
Died Vasiliev in Moscow on 16 December 1959.
