Biography La Fayette Marie Madeleine Piosh De La Vergne
La Fayette, Marie-Madeleine de PIOSH La Verne (La Fayette, Marie Madeleine Pioche de la Vergne) (1634-1693), French writer. Born in March 1634 in Paris, in the family Piosh de la Vergne. In her childhood mentor was a writer Menage, whom she studied together with other future literary celebrities - Madame de Sц?vignц?. In 1665, Lafayette was married to Franцїois Motiers, Comte de Lafayette, and bore him two sons. When abate the influence of interior Rambouillet, Madame de Lafayette opened her own salon, where the most prominent figure was her ardent admirer of La Rochefoucauld. Leaving the company after the death of La Rochefoucauld (1680) and husband (1683), she has spent the last years of his life in prayer. Lafayette died in Paris on May 25, 1693.
The best piece of Madame de La Fayette is a novel, "The Princess of Cleves" (La Princesse de Clves), issued without specifying a name in 1678. Among her other works - "The Princess de Montpensier" (La Princesse de Montpensier, 1662, rus. translated 1991), "Zayed" (Zaide, 1670-1671); numerous letters, and published posthumously Life of Henrietta of England "(Historie de Mme. Henriette d'Angleterre, 1720) and "The Countess de Tandi" (La Comtesse de Tende, 1724; rus. translated 1991).
