Biography Pavel Romanovich Popovich
Astronaut Russia. Born October 5, 1930 in the village Uzin Kiev region. During the Great Patriotic War was the territory occupied by Nazi troops. The school was closed and Paul was able to continue their studies only after the arrival of Soviet troops. The times were difficult, and why Paul did not quit school, he entered an apprentice fireman at the factory where his father worked. Soon, he was admitted to the vocational school in the White Church. In 1947, was qualified carpenter fifth level and at the same time he graduated from seventh grade night school. In the same year he entered the Magnitogorsk industrial technical manpower. Along with studying at college was engaged in flying club. In 1951 he graduated from college, receiving a diploma of technician-builder, and the Aero Club. In 1951 he entered, and in 1954 he graduated the Kachin Military Aviation School behalf of A. F. Myasnikov. After graduating from college he served in the parts of the Air Forces of the USSR. In 1960 enlisted in the detachment of Soviet cosmonauts (1960 Group of the Air Force? 1). It has been fully trained to fly aboard Vostok type. 12 - 15 August 1962 made his first space flight on board the spaceship Vostok-4. For the first time in the world was committed group flight of two manned spacecraft. Mission duration was 2 days 22 hours 57 minutes. After the first flight continued training in the cosmonaut detachment. Trained to fly on "Moon" program, and after its closure was preparing to fly aboard Soyuz-type and orbital space station type Diamond. Without separation from work in 1968, he graduated from the Air Force Academy named H. E. Zhukovsky. 3 - 19 July 1974 made his second space flight as commander of the spacecraft Soyuz-14 and the orbital station Salyut-3. This was the first flight on the orbital station, wearing a purely military nature. The flight lasted 15 days 17 hours 30 minutes 28 seconds. Over 2 flights flown in space for 18 days 16 hours 27 minutes 28 seconds. In 1977 he defended his thesis and received the degree of candidate of technical sciences. In 1980 - 1989 he worked deputy chief of the Center of Cosmonaut Training S. A. Gagarin. In 1989 he was elected director of research and production facilities associated with the study of Earth's Interior. Since 1992 - Director of the Institute Rossiyskogo land monitoring. President UFO-Union Association (1991 - 1992 gg.). Since 1992 - President of the UFO Association CIS. In 1992 he was elected president of the Academy of energy-information sciences. Since 1992 - Chairman of the Boxing Federation of Russia. He was deputy chairman of the Central Board of the Soviet-Austrian Friendship Society.

Member of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR 6-11-th convocation.

Twice Hero of the Soviet Union. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, Order of the Red Star and medals. Hero of Labor of Vietnam. Honorary citizen of Kaluga, Magnitogorsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Russia), Poltava, Zaporozhye (Ukraine). He was awarded a gold medal to. E. Tsiolkovsky Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the medal de Lavaux (FAI).
