Born April 14, 1937 in Vinnitsa Ukrainian SSR in the family of railroad workers.
In 1960 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Transport Engineers (MIIT) and enrolled in graduate. Candidate of historical sciences.
For eight years he worked at the factory, then taught political economy of capitalism. Since 1957 freelance worked with youth edition of the Central Television Broadcaster of the USSR.
