Biography ALTMAN, Natan
1889, Vinnitsa - 1970, Leningrad. In 1903-07 he studied painting and sculpture at the Odessa Art School. In 1910-11 he lived in Paris, to visit the Russian Academy of M. Vasilyeva. He was a member of the Union of Youth, participated in the exhibitions "0.10", "Jack of Diamonds. In 1920-28 as a theater artist working on the design of the performance in the theater "Gabima" and the State Jewish Theater (GOSET). In 1923 in Berlin, published "The Jewish graphics Nathan Altman's" - a collection of drawings with reliefs of Jewish tombstones. In 1928, together with GOSET troupe has toured through Europe, stayed in Paris, where he lived until 1935. Upon his return to the Soviet Union lived in Leningrad and the rest of his life continued to paint, create sculptures and teatralnye decorations, illustrated books, as well as writing about art.
