Powers Boothe was born in 1949 in Snyder, Texas. After a thorough preparation for the acting career at Southern Methodist University, Powers spent several years in local theater before they appeared on television playing in 1981, tiny role in "Cruising". But the following year earned him an Emmy Award for playing Reverend Jim Jones in the TV movie "The Guyana Tragedy". A year later, Powers joined the "club classic detectives, having received the role of private detective Philip Marlowe in the TV series.
