Biography IOSELIANI Otar
born February 2, 1934 in Tbilisi. He studied at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University. In 1965 he graduated from the directing department VGIK (workshop Dovzhenko). In 1962 Ioseliani put short film 'April', and in 1964 he made a documentary 'Iron', showing it one day of smelter. Even for these films was characterized by an original directorial style, which is clearly evident in his first feature-length film 'Listopad' (1966), was awarded a FIPRESCI prize at Cannes and the Georges Sadoul prize for best debut. In 1971, the film screens out 'Hab mavis', and in 1976 the director put the 'Pastoral', which received the FIPRESCI prize at the Berlin Festival. Since the early 1980's Otar Iosseliani works in France, where he shot several documentaries and short pictures. In 1984, the director put the film 'Favorites of the Moon', an award at the Venice Film Festival Special Jury Prize. The same prize was awarded two more films Josseliani - 'And there was light' (1989) and 'Robbers. Chapter Seven '(1996). In 1999, screens out the new film Otar Iosseliani, in which he played and one of the main roles - 'Farewell, sweet home' (in Russia Cinemas called 'In vino veritas').
