Born April 3, 1934 in g. Ordzhonikidze, North Ossetia. Father - Dzasokhov Sergei Asabeevich (1908 g. born.). Mother - Dzasokhova Tamara Uruspievna (1914. born.). Sons - Dzasokhov Sergey (1968. born.) Dzasokhov Teimuraz A. (1969. born.).
He graduated from the North-Caucasian Mining and Metallurgical Institute, specializing in mining engineer-geologist. From 1967 to 1986 he served as First Deputy Chairman of the Soviet Committee of Solidarity with Asian and African. From 1987 to 1991 he was Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the secretary and member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU, People's Deputies and a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, deputy of the State Duma of the 1-th convocation; State Duma 2-th convocation; Co-Russia Interparliamentary Group, . Repeatedly led the delegation to the UN fora and other international organizations.
In January 1998 he was elected President of the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania, typing 77% of the votes. He is a member of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russia.
