11.XI.1869 - 28.XII.1947 Victor Emmanuel ascended to the throne unexpectedly after the assassination of his father, Umberto (Umberto) I, in 1900. The new king was born in Naples in Italy and received a military education. He was a supporter of constitutional monarchy. His main interest was the development of economy and development of foreign and domestic policy, he left his ministers. Intense economic and political situation in the country that resulted from the First World War, caused the seizure of power by the fascists led by Benito Mussolini. Since then, Victor Emmanuel III became nothing more than the nominal head of the Italian Government. But in 1943, after the collapse of the Mussolini and his arrest, Victor Emmanuel III resumed the post of Minister premiere. After the war Victor Emmanuel had abdicated in favor of his son Umberto. However, as a result of a plebiscite in 1946, the monarchy came to an end. And when the republic was proclaimed, Umberto and his father went into exile.
