1867 - 1934 Physicist and chemist, an ethnic Pole, worked in France, a member of Academy of many countries, t.ch. Corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, and later an honorary member of Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Nobel laureate (1903, 1911). Sklodowska-Curie - one of the founders of the radioactive elements in 1898. with her husband Pierre Curie discovered the radioactive elements - radium and polonium, and studied the properties of radiation. Developed a method of processing and analysis of waste uranium ore for radium salts, received radium in metallic form. On behalf of the Brussels Congress of radiological Sklodowska-Curie is the first to the standard of radium stored at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.
