1792 - 1840 In 1819, Santander was chief Patriotic Army. Participated along with Simon Bolivar in the Battle of Boyaca and the release of Bogota (1819). In 1819-28, Vice-President of Gran Colombia, during the military campaigns of Bolivar de facto President.
