Marie Franö¿ois Sadi Carnot was born August 11, 1837 in the town of Limoges, the capital of Haute-Vienne. He was the son of the deputy left Hippolyte Carnot, an ardent opponent of the July monarchy (after 1830), and the grandson of Count Lazare Carnot, the famous "Organizer of Victory" of the French Revolution.
. In 1870, Carnot was appointed commissioner in Normandy, responsible for organizing the province's resistance movement in the Franco-Prussian War 1870-71
. After a short period, as the Prefect of Seine-Maritime, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies from the Department Cote d'Ivoire. When sitting with the Left Republicans, Carnot concentrated all its efforts on the development of public works and railways.
. In October 1978 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Works, and a year later he was appointed Minister
. Elected vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies in April 1885, he served as Minister of Trade and Finance. In 1887, Mr.. Carnot was elected president of the republic, although it did not show much commitment to this post.
. Carnot's presidency was marked by the appearance on the political scene adventurer General Georges Boulanger, actions of the workers, the intensification of the anarchist movement and scandal to the Panama Canal in 1892
. Still Carnot retained its popularity at the time, how to change 10 different governments, formed seven years. June 24, 1894, after delivering a welcome speech at the exhibition in Lyon Carnot suffered a fatal stab wound to the Italian anarchist Sante Kaserio. That same night the President died.
