Biography DRAKMAN Holger Henrik Herholdt (Drachmann Holger Henrik Herholdt)
(1846-1908) Born Oct. 9, 1846 in Copenhagen, the son of a naval doctor. In the early years of his apparent love of the sea and a passion for travel. Independent life began as a seascape painter, visiting England, saw the poverty of slums and wrote his first published poem by British socialists (Engelske socialister, 1871). This was followed by collections of poetry (Digte, 1872) and muted tones (Dmpede melodier, 1875). Various genres of art Drakmana has more than 60 volumes. Among his most significant works - On the other side of the border (Derovre fra grnsen, . 1877), . sketches from the border of Schleswig; on faith and honest sailor (Paa smands tro og love, . 1878); poetic fairy tale princess and half the kingdom (Prinsessen og det halve kongerige, . 1878) and it was once (Det var en gang, . 1877), .
Fling Drakmana reflected in the novel Sold (Forskrevet, 1890). Acutely felt the beauty of the native language, Drakman, like no other Danish poet (perhaps with the exception of AG Oehlenschlцєger), enriched it and filled it with new music and rhythmic sound and soft semitones. Died in Drakman Hornbeck on Jan. 14, 1908.
