Biography Georg KAISER (Kaiser Georg)
(1878-1945) Born November 25, 1878 in Magdeburg. In 1899 he left Germany before returning to the 1920's for several years lived in Argentina, Spain, Italy. In the subjects of his early plays Jewish widow (Die Jdische Witwe, 1911) and King cuckold (Knig Hahnrei, 1913) Kayser has been influenced by F. Wedekind, take advantage of dramas based on sexual insolvency. Kaiser has sought the release of his plays to take an objective reality and give the world an expression of the subconscious. He avoided the usual dramatic moves, using a typical symbolic expressionist techniques and carefully building a stage action. In the Burghers of Calais (Die Brger von Calais, 1914) welcomed the hero sacrifices for the benefit of society and the birth of 'new man'. Dramatic trilogy Coral (Die Koralle, 1917), Gas I (Gas I, 1918) and Gas II (1920) also depicted renaissance man, here shows the collapse of the socialist utopia under the dehumanizing effects machines. In plays from morning to midnight (Von Morgens bis Mitternachts, 1916) and Hell, the road, the land (Hlle, Weg, Erde, 1919) depicted the struggle of man with the hopelessness of life and heartlessness close.
Among many other pieces Kaiser - Fire at the Opera (Der Brand im Opernhaus, 1919), is saved Alcibiades (Der gerettete Alkibiades, 1920) and Tanaka Soldier (Der Soldat Tanaka, 1940). Kaiser is also the author of the novels enough (Es Ist Genug, 1932) and Villa Aurea (1940). Kaiser died in Ascona (Switzerland), June 4, 1945.
