Biography LOUBET Emile Francois (Loubet Emile Franois)
(1838-1929) Born December 31, 1838 MARSANNAY. He worked as a lawyer, in 1876 became a member of the Chamber of Deputies from the Republican Party. In 1885 he was elected to the Senate in 1887 became Minister of Public Works. In 1892 became Prime Minister, resigned in connection with the scandal over the Panama Canal Company. Became president of the Senate in 1896 and president of the republic in 1899. As President Loubet received Nicholas II during his visit to France in 1901, visited Russia in 1902. Visited the UK and Italy. In the Dreyfus affair in fact made in support of the supporters of his justification. In Loubet, there was also a complete separation of church and state. At the end of his term in 1906 Loubet settled in Montelimar, where he was elected mayor. Died Loubet in Montelimar December 20, 1929.
