Biography Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (Pergolesi Giovanni Battista)
(1710-1736) Born January 4, 1710 in ERA (province of Ancona). Main creative aspirations were associated with Pergolesi's opera, and his servant-mistress (La serva padrona, 1733) identified a form of comic opera for the period before the appearance of works by Rossini in this genre. The failure of a number of theatrical works by Pergolesi forced to turn to the church and instrumental music. His legacy in these areas includes the 4 mass, 2 oratorios, 11 cantatas, 12 motets, 5 hymns Salve Regina, a few concerts for violin and flute, cello sonata, a number of pieces for harpsichord and a lot of songs and arias. Most famous and still frequently performed composition Pergolesi - his unfinished Stabat Mater (1736). Pergolesi died in Pozzuoli March 16, 1736.
