John Boynton Priestley (Priestley John Boynton)

(1894-1984)
Born September 3, 1894 in Bradford (Yorkshire). In Trinity Hall, Cambridge University with honors managed in many disciplines, made a living in journalism. After serving in World War I in the infantry in 1922 in London, began career as a professional writer (book reviews, essays, biographies and Dzh.Meredita TL Peacock, A Brief History of the English novel - A Short History of English Novel, 1927).
Novels good friends (Good Companions, 1929) and Street Angel (Angel Pavement, 1931) brought him fame famous writer, and play a dangerous turn (Dangerous Corner, 1932) put forward a number of leading playwrights. Directing two London theaters, he put about 16 of his plays, in t.ch. Rakitovo alley (Laburnum Grove, 1933), Corner of Eden (Eden End, 1934) and when we married (When We are Married, 1938). A short stay in Arizona inspired him to create autobiographical book Midnight in the wilderness (Midnight at the Desert, 1937). By Priestley's later works include topical publication of the Second World War novels Jenny Villiers (Jenny Villiers, . 1947), . Farbridzhe Festival (Festival at Fairbridge, . 1953) and Doctor leaves Salt (Salt is Leaving, . 1966); play Visiting Inspector (An Inspector Calls, . 1946); screenplay last holiday (Last Holiday, . 1950); book of short stories The other place (The Other Place, . 1953); lengthy 'personal' essay Man and Time (Man and Time, . 1964); five decades, a collection of essays (Essays of Five Decades, . 1964) and an autobiography instead of trees (Instead of Trees, . 1977),
. Condemning social injustice, he praised the man in the spiritual and material interest reproached, calling this with Charles Dickens and Dzh.M.Barri. Priestley died in Stratford-upon-Avon 14 August 1984.
