Biography Guido Reni (Reni Guido)
(1575-1642) Born November 4, 1575 in Kalventsano near Bologna. He studied at the Bologna Academy of brothers Carracci Ludovico Carracci at. From 1602 he lived in Rome and served orders frescoed churches and palaces. One of the best works of the early period of his work - painting Massacre of the Innocents (1610-1611, Bologna, Pinacoteca). Inherent Guido Reni subtle sense of rhythm and harmony of composition is embodied in his famous fresco of Aurora in Palazzo Pallavicini Rospilozi (1614) in Rome. In 1614 the artist returned to Bologna. In place of realism of his early work had a boring and sometimes deliberate piety. The forms in his paintings become more schematic and pale colors, and light - transparent. For this period of his work is characterized by the bright and lyrical picture of the Adoration of the Shepherds (1640-1642, Naples, Certosa di San Martino). Guido Reni died in Bologna on Aug. 18, 1642.
