Biography Forain Jean Louis (Forain Jean Louis)
(1852-1931) October 23, 1852 in Reims, studied alone, not counting the year spent in the studio of the sculptor Carpeaux. In the first scenes Forena, such as bars (1884), felt strongly influenced Manet and Degas. Gradually, the artist started drawing and lithography for humorous journals. The fame he has brought the publication of about 250 lithographs under the title Paris comedy. Elegant and flawed urban life and the hypocrisy of the judges, as in the works of Daumier and Gavarni, were the main topics Forena. In the last years of his life he turned to the Bible stories and created etchings and paintings in the manner of imitation Rembrandt. Forain died in Paris on July 11, 1931.
