LIBERAL Anthony (Antonius Liberalis)

Antonius Liberal, Antonius Liberalis, probably, II in. n. e., Greek Myth. Was, perhaps, Roman, writing in Greek. His work Metamorphoses is a collection of 41 more or less fantastic stories set forth in prose and made mostly from the works of the Hellenistic poets, among others from Nikandra. Language A. replete with poetic words and phrases, which he apparently borrowed from their sources.
